I am also surprised at the fact that series-sized filters seem to have become 
dinosaurs.  When I was growing up 30 years ago, it was the affordable and
sensible way to use filters....I fondly remember ordering these and oth
s from Spiratone (whatever happen to them?) and others.
Series filters certainly are less klutsy than those square filters with their
oversized slip-in(and fall out) holders for scratchable plastic filters.
Speaking of which, I purchased some used equipment and got 2 Cokin "plastic"
screw in UV filters....one had plastic threads that just kept turning and would
not easily unthread from the lens...what a joke.....
