Re: [KOML] Interested in KO

As far as finding a source, you need to just look around. The beauty of
the Koni is that it was never very popular and they are cheap. Try buying
a lens for your Mamiya Rz or Hasselblad for under 300.00! The trick is to hit
the big stores with high turnover of inventories, some might still have NOS on
the shelves. One thing to consider, most Konis were sold as cheap
wedding cameras or in large lots to police departments, (you know,
buy American!), so you rarely find one that has been babied. The lenses are
good,
but are likely to be slow, in need of re-lubrication. If you find a 58mm or
60mm lens,
make sure it has a viewfinder, odds are against you finding one alone.
I did buy a 58mm without a finder and I must have called every dealer in
the country before I found one, it was kind of pricey though. As far as
condition
is concerned, I think you'll just have to trust the dealer on that one,
most will offer a return. There were not a lot of accessories available for
this system, I now have every lens and accessory made, but I think I
just got lucky, some things are nearly impossible to find. I've been
asked to provide a picture of my system for reference, not everyone
has seen some of these things, I plan to do it soon. I'll make it
available when I get to it. Good hunting!
