This is just a guess, but perhaps the Press 2 was for the non-U.S.
market since they could not sell the camera in the U.S as a Konica
because of the license agreement with Simmons. Likewise, Konica may not
have been licensed to use the Simmons trademarked name Omega outside the
U.S. The Japanese car-makers continue to do this today. For example the
Nissan Maxima is called a Nissan Skyline in Japan. Of course this is
very different when it comes to number since they cannot be trademarked,
ie. Mazda RX-7, Nikon F5, etc.
