The cocking lever that sticks out of the lens turns on a ring that runs
on little ball bearings. I bet that something has gotten loose, allowing
one of the balls to fall out. I don't thing that there is any chance if it
getting in the way of the lens elements or the shutter/diaphgrahm mechanism,
but if any more fall out, the cocking lever could jam up.
These lenses are more complicated inside than they could be. Disassembling
the rear half is a pain because of the wire that runs from the flash sync
contacts in the shutter to the connector on the outside. I learned
this the hard way... But I bet a pro would have this set right in a jiffy.
