RE: [KOML] Koni Models - Definitive List?

  Clive,

I know what you are thinking. Why does it say Konica on the Press 1 &
2 if
  Mamiya made them, correct?

Even though Mamiya took over the factory from Konica, the Konica name
is
revered in Japan, so for a while the name may have remained.

I am not sure what and if anything changed but I can find out. Henry
Froelich, now President of Mamiya, is a friend of mine and the person
who
actually established Konica in the US (1952 - Philadelphia), and later
Mamiya
USA. He was a key player in transferring the factory from Konica to
Mamiya.
Berkey Marketing Group was also the US distributor and they were
another force
in the industry at the time, and may have also pushed using the Rapid
name in
the US in place of Konica.

That's for sure - still a great reference source though even if not
definitive. It would be great if you could confirm the date's for use ,

thanks Peter.

Do you know anything about the period in manufacture when Mamiya became
involved? It seems as though you are saying that the Konica Press 1 and
2
models were made by Mamiya after Konica sold them the manufacturing
rights
and presumably all of the spares?

All the best,
