[KOML] What Color Negative Film Do You Use?
After shooting 3 or 4 test rolls of outdated B & W
film and finding that my recently acquired RO200 was
mechanically and optically OK, I thought it time to try
it out with color film. To this point in time, I have
been using Kodak PRN-100 and VPS160 in 4" x 5" format.
Although both are still available from B & H and other
sources, they have been discontinued, replaced with
Portra 160VC and 160NC. I chose the VC (vivid color?)
to start with. I have the finished prints and
everything looks fine, however, the custom
photofinisher tells me that Fuji NPS160(D) is a better
color negative film. He also told me Kodak had
withdrawn the Portra films for a while because of
(problems). BTY, one problem he described is a very
light streaking although it doesn't affect print
quality.
Well, I've been a Kodak user since the beginning of
time, and opted to try a couple more rolls. This time
using 160NC (normal color?).
One final note; Cost of developing plus 10 4" x
5" prints was $8.15 plus a cut for the Pennsylvania tax
system. Price of the film was $3.95.
Any comments will be appreciated.
