May I? (I may seem testy this morning, but I'm shooting winter action
(motorcycle ice-races) in bad light with a long (mirror) lens this
weekend.) Today, just today, I want to be Weege with a 4x5 Speed Graphic
and a huge #1 bulb blasting at 10 feet.) :)

IMHO, hyperfocoal is nonsense when extended to infinity. Technically,
certainly there is such a thing but if you want something in focus at
infinity, then focus at infinity. Hyperfocal was originally intended to
accomodate earlier lenses which were not very good by today's standards.
Those who defined hyperfocal accepted a large circle of confusion that is
not acceptable today, so beware of the source of the settings you may be
referring to.
