Dear All,
Just as well I didn't set the alarm for 6am this morning for the end of the
135mm auction on EBay :-)
Final price was $650 - a little over my budget, although someone is
probably a very happy 135mm lens owner this morning.
Perhaps it would be an idea to sell the 135mm Omegaflex lens sitting here
that I was planning to convert. Now let's see, twice $650 is........... ;-)
It seems hard to justify the cost of the 135mm lenses given that they do
not allow the close focus necessary for frame filling shots of your
subject. Guess that they must be collectable.
Am tempted to mount the taking lens of the Omegaflex 135mm onto a lens
board and shoot with it on a large format camera just to see what all the
fuss is about.
The viewing lens of the Omegaflex 135mm also has an iris to allow depth of
field previews. Does anyone know whether the same glass was used in both
taking and viewing lenses? The glass appears to have the same coating and
number of elements from what I recall.
Some TLR manufacturers definitely used lower quality glass in the viewing
lenses. Given the low numbers of 135mm lenses made it may be the case that
the same glass was used for both the viewing and taking Omegaflex lenses
and the the KO lens. Anyone have information on this?
All the best,
